Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)

At Afrikamart, our commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices is at the heart of everything we do. From the way we source products to how we interact with our farmers and partners, we are dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship, social inclusion, and strong governance throughout our operations.

1

Environmental Impact

sdg afrikamart

Sustainable Farming Practices:  Afrikamart actively promotes sustainable agricultural practices among the smallholder farmers in our network. By encouraging the use of natural fertilizers, crop rotation, and water conservation methods, we help reduce the environmental impact of farming while improving soil health and crop yields.

Minimizing Food Waste: Through our efficient logistics and market linkages, we ensure that produce moves quickly from farms to markets, minimizing food waste. Our technology platform helps optimize the supply chain, reducing delays and ensuring that products reach their destination in the best possible condition.

Commitment to Eco-Friendly Packaging: We are continuously exploring ways to minimize our environmental footprint by using eco-friendly packaging for exports, reducing the use of plastic, and adopting sustainable materials wherever possible.

Social Impact

2

Empowering Smallholder Farmers: Afrikamart is dedicated to improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Senegal, Mali, Guinea Bissau, and Gambia by providing them with access to regional and global markets. We help farmers 2 secure better prices for their products, resulting in higher incomes and improved living conditions.

Gender Inclusion: We prioritize creating job opportunities for women, particularly in rural communities.  60% of the manpower in roles such as sorting, harvesting, and packaging is made up of women, contributing to their economic empowerment and creating more inclusive agricultural value chains.

Youth Employment: Afrikamart recognizes the importance of engaging young people in agriculture. We provide training and employment opportunities for young workers, helping to build a skilled workforce that can drive innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector

Governance and Transparency

3

Strong Governance Structure: Afrikamart’s governance is built on transparency, accountability, and responsible decision-making. Our advisory board and executive team ensure that all operations align with our long-term vision of sustainability, growth, and social impact.

Supply Chain Transparency: Our technology platform enables us to track products from farm to market, providing complete transparency at every stage of the supply chain. Buyers can trust that they are receiving ethically sourced products, and farmers can be assured that they are getting fair prices for their goods.

Ethical Business Practices: We adhere to strict ethical guidelines in all our dealings, ensuring that our operations are conducted with integrity, fairness, and respect for the communities we serve.
